Proof that modern architecture can be family friendly, the home of internationally acclaimed architect David Jameson and his family features clean lines and beautiful materials that are bathed in natural light.  Designing windows and walls in a puzzle-like manner, Jameson has created a striking home for his young family that is a livable piece of art.  Built on the foundation of a 1950’s era house, the new home is a study in spatial complexity and sustainability that meet modern life.  Stepping just inside the home’s foyer, an interior courtyard immediately brings the outside back into view.  A private haven for relaxation, the courtyard’s focal point is a fireplace used by the family on cooler evenings.

A spacious family room blends living, dining, and kitchen areas.  The kitchen features teak casework that veils the appliances.  Hans Wegner chairs surround the dining table while honed Roman travertine encases the family room fireplace.  Just off the family living area is another outdoor living area that includes a pool and spa.  A living room, music space, and master bedroom suite complete the main level.

Collectors of contemporary art, the Jameson’s have installed large scale works by noted artists, including Richard Serra, Jacob Kainen, and Steve Cushner, throughout.  Carefully selected furnishings include custom, limited edition, and vintage pieces of Danish and modern design.  The second floor includes a play area for children, as well as bedrooms that reflect the personalities and interests of their young occupants.  Magnetic “chat boards” from Copenhagen provide space to display the children’s art work and treasures.
