Ken and Lee Ann Slosser’s modern French provincial 11,000 sq. ft. home is fashioned with fine design and elegant lines. Their home is a gem. Designed and built by Anne Cohen in 1992, tour goers will count 13 spectacularly elongated sets of French doors on the main level, all framing the woodland paradise of their beautiful home.
Having moved from California, Lee Ann was determined to bring some of the west coast symphony of colors to her Potomac Falls home and collaborated with her designer Kim Christie McVey on her luscious color selections and furnishings. The home flows well with the handsome library opening into a grand living room. A custom textured wall screen softens proportions of the living room. The banquet size dining room features a two story domed ceiling with wrought iron and crystal chandelier. The fireplace wall has been faux painted, mirroring the flocked pattern in her dining room chairs giving additional emphasis to the room’s scale. Note the Lladro porcelain collection next to the fireplace.
Examine both the kitchen and living room ceiling- which one is the faux painted ceiling? Highlighting the expansive kitchen is a gigantic tropical fish brought out for special family buffets and a family collection of heirloom glassware. A favorite gathering spot for warm weather parties is the screened patio/barbecue overlooking the pool.
Leading to the second floor is a grand staircase with an elegant wrought iron banister, and hallway accented with antique furnishings and oriental designed carpeting. The grand scale of the hall suggests a European manor overlooking the spacious dining room below. Cascading light comes through triple sets of stately shuttered windows in the master suite suggesting luxurious comfort in the restful colors of sage, mocha, and champagne. Do not miss the mirrored closet dressing room. Their daughters’ bedrooms are delightful tints of color- one a beach theme and the other regal shades of purple.
Building a wine cellar for the Slosser’s extensive wine collection was a highpriority. Anthony Wilder Building and Design attractively created the 3,200 bottle cellar and tasting room adding arched doorways and a granite bar 14 ft. in length. The adjacent entertainment area includes a Wurlitzer jukebox, gaming table, media center, and pool table. Playful as a designer, no surprise that Lee Ann also collects carousels.
The floral arrangements for this house have been graciously provided by Edge Floral Event Designers.
